Guitar Repair #203 - Recrown Frets - Little Martin - Acoustic
Sitar sound on 1st 3 frets. Thought it was saddle flat crowning. But it was the frets.
Recrown 1st,2nd and 3rd frets.
Remove tissue paper shim at saddle for perfect action.
Hammer some uneven frets, clean and oil FB, clean head
Restring her strings (Elixir).
Over lowered the 1st and 2nd string slots at the nut - baking soda and super glue trick to raise the slot.

Trip 2 to KL
After 2 weeks plus of non-activity in Awesome Leisure due to my exodus from Toa Payoh North, this trip is imminent, especially after missing the KL travel fair 3 weeks ago due to partner's illness.
Already emotional during the Johor birthday trip with wifey yesterday. Just felt sensitive all day, like it was before when I was young.
This morning, saying goodbye to her, mon gave me a red packet of ringgit and wish me a 全部顺顺! She had wanted to give the ringgit to me but I refused it earlier.
Then hugging Carrie and wifey at the breakfast table, bid Wifey goodbye at the door.
Frustrated at the luthiery stores to clear at home
Yesterday morning, after curry bun breakfast with mom, started to open up second batch of boxes to store them in the house. Daunted, I frustratingly told mom that I feel like throwing them all out!
But I remembered the whatsapp post in Goldie's group, to ask "Holy Spirit, help."
I asked.
Peace came.
Then I dare to work it out. With mom's help, it was enjoyable and manage to pack it to the storeroom and atop wardrobe without much fuss. Also throw out some unwanted stuff from storeroom!

Out of TPN at last
Chng fetch me from home on Sunday. Had prata breakfast at Ayer Rajah then to a full van of my stuff, back home.
Then, PTL, 1st enquiry out of God's favour, to buy dust collector!!!
He is to buy the drill press, bandsaw and my 2 workbenches eventually, on Monday!!! Praise Jesus!
Ended in Pasir Ris, to bring up my Kapur bench to Chng's, but it was raining. We ended with 6 Carlsberg and yummy French fries and fried chicken.
Monday, Mike came to help paint, while I hitch a ride home from the buyer to collect the two benches from home. Mom we going out to Esplanade, so had to be home.
Went back to a full load in Mike taxi. Fetched Sam, went for fish steamboat at Clementi Weat St 2.
Praise Jesus.
Next day, Kevin fetched me to collect his spray equipment from studio, where I handed the key to Nari via the mailbox!
Ended the day in Kevin's where I tried his new Claudio, his 11th and 12th.
Home after Teochew porridge lunch at Upper Serangoon.
Left 10c in pocket after buying coffee
So when wifey wants to buy curry puff, I said I will eat in Toa Payoh. Actually, I left 10c in pocket ad bank balance less than the min $20 withdrawal!!!
But God is good. He had Zul came in yesterday for guitar repair and today coming to pay me $72. Some more gave me $80, the rest as tips!
At 2:15pm, through Teck Seng referral, came Chia who gave me 2 guitars and $350 worth of repair work!!!

Nut too small, changed it.

Fingerboard edge finishing peel in various places along the whole length.
Came back on 22/5/17 for same problem. Re-finish it with cyanoacrylate, instead of shellac.

Today, he said more things he like than don't like.
BAD
6th is piano sound; too "much", whatever that means.
Guitar not talked to, caressed, loved, pampered. Felt as a maker, I am just making for the sake of making. Step 1, 2, etc
Fretboard, rounded like Samsung Note.
He quote YuLong Guo, has good sound, nice playability like mine. But he has a super rounded fretboard edge, cannot even feel the frets. But felt too expensive for a Chinese made!
Loud yes. Always shouting. No character.

Surprisingly, he likes the Taiwanese tuner!
Good trebles. Everything good except the 6th string. Reverse of what he said in the past!

On asking him about marketing my guitars, he said must put it to a shop.
He talked about giving him exclusive for Singapore. Asking 40-50%. Will sell this to his international contacts and travel.
Asked if my guitars are ready for he world. He said Yes man!!!

Birthday present from Caleb
Yesterday, Caleb, Carrie and I went to WCP to get my present. After Nike shop, I suggest getting tights from Bods shop.
So he blessed me with one!
This boy has been so generous. Very touching. Still cannot forget the Christmas few years ago in Alexandra village where he wants to get something from Evergreen, actually was a present for me. Some more I was angry for some reason!
Farewell beer with Manuel and Hunter

Bought the wrong the D'addario mini tuner at the Star and late for the appt.

On New Year's Day 2016, we went to the street party near Sheng Siong, Iswaran was VIP, was met by us, mother, just, Caleb n Carrie n Aaron n his mom.
Caleb shared that it is his first time meeting a VIP face to face!
