Sal's Flamenco ~ Assembly (Soundboard to Neck)

The shelf on the top of headblock was routed so that it'll flush with the soundboard when they are glued.

The thin acrylic has a scribed line to easily centre the neck and the soundboard.

Here's the lower bout end, where the centre line of soundboard align perfectly.

The soundboard is now glued to the neck (by the F-clamp with red handle). The stuff below the soundboard is just to keep the soundboard from dangling in mid-air!

material search for table saw making

this morning left early, as caleb running a little fever will not be going school, so i left him sleeping with mom and jami...

i decided to go further on 51 to check out some materials for my table saw near sungei road, with the table saw making article from vintageprojects

checked out 1/2 hp china motor $150 at one hardware shop, and other parts.

in the end, i bought the english jack plane that i almost bought the last time at the hardware shop near the sungei road. this time the boss quoted me, almost wanting me to have it, for only $25 (it was $40 i think!). i chose one of the two no.5 Dronfield plane available.

satisfied customer!

Sal's Flamenco ~ Bending sides

The Paulownia sides await bending over hot pipe against template.

Before that, each side is soaked for about 5 mins in a custom sized tray of hot water.

The treble side is completed.

The bass side is also completed. They have a few light masking taped down to retain their shape. and are left overnight to return to equilibrium moisture content of 50% relative humidity before assembly.

Sal's Flamenco ~ Top bracing

For bracing the top, the flat grafts are glued on first.

After bringing the grafts down to their specific thickness, the fans are glued on. Here, the four outside fans are being glued.

The seven straight fans are thickness according to their positions and they peaked at the bridge. Now being chiselled to triangle profile and feathered at the ends.

The fans are carved and the upper cross strut is glued.

The slanted harmonic bar or lower cross strut is arched with 1/16" offset for the necessary top arch.

This massive strut is being glued...

The upper and lower cross strut are cut at the ends, about 2mm within the template line.

The upper and lower cross struts are rounded over and top was given a #240 sand down.
