It was my student's. So I volunteered to rectify this problem, claiming that I am a guitar maker (I have learned that doing the work of a maker and that of a repair technician is totally different. They have very different skill sets and tools!).
Rectify, I did, but I made a mess with the finish! The headstock is reglued, stronger than before, but I sanded through the maroon finish and never could match the colour. I even had to cancel 2 weeks of lessons with the student to patch the impossible.
Cause - wrong grit choice during level sanding.
Solution - wet sand with #1500 or finer
Little did I realised that this began my guitar repair career.
Here's a similar repair, 10 years on - here
